Gates

Rod and plate gates are used to close or open coal storage outlet. They are usually installed with a single expansion joint between coal storage outlet and device that doses coal for further transport.
Complete closure of the outlet is needed when empty coal storage is being filled or in case of feeder failure which is behind the storage. Full or part opening option of the storage outlet depends of exploitation requirements. 
The gate may be single- or multi-segment, depending on the size of the coal storage outlet. Movable elements (rods or plates) may be located anywhere, as they are driven separately by a drive unit. The drive unit is installed in the frame.

Rod gate is composed of a welded frame, rod elements, guide bars made of special material and a drive unit.
Plate gate is composed of welded frame, a plate made of steel resistant to grinding or to acids, guide bars, support rolls and a drive unit. The middle part of the gate frame has holes drilled for bolts to mount the gate frame to the storage and expansion joint. Rod gate or plate gate may be driven electrically, hydraulically or manually.
Electric drive unit is a system composed of motor and gear with a sleeve connected to the gate guide screw.
Hydraulic drive unit is made of motor, gear pump oil vessel with a cut-off valve, filters, hydraulic distributor and pipes which connect the drive unit with hydraulic servomotors placed on the frame structure.
