Slag hoppers

Slag hopper is a part of deslagging system. It is located between the outflow of boiler combustion chamber and slag chain trap.

Slag hopper is composed of the following elements:

- outer casing made of non-alloy steel which is a construction of a shell and bars,
- thermal insulation of ceramic fibre mats, pinned to outer casing of slag hopper,
- mechanical shield for thermal insulation made of heat resistant sheets hanged freely on hangers mounted to outer casing,
- water seal between slag hopper and slag chain trap - made of corrosion-resistant steel, attached to bottom frame of the slag hopper,
- steel support construction for the mounting of slag hopper to boiler combustion chamber.
